Job Description & Duties:
v Essential day to day responsibilities:
- Evaluate several data sources and choose most accurate record by evaluating the perceived accuracy and history of each
- Identify trends in data and report back to manager to adjust strategy accordingly
- Identify inaccurate or falsified data
- Provide regular feedback to manager with suggestions for enhancements to provide better workflow efficiencies
- Use own understanding of corporate mergers and acquisitions to identify parent-child relationships
- Work in a team environment
v Required Skills: The resources will need the following qualifications:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Programming or SQL knowledge is not necessary.
- Strong sleuthing skills: ability to track information down from multiple resources beyond what is presented on screen.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills and work ethic
- Strong communication skills, ability to interact with account managers as well as developmental resources
- Good judgment and ability to weigh importance of a variety of inputs, identify patterns that may exist, and flag important trends
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Common sense/understanding of markets/Must be able to discern data source from another
v Desired Skills:
- Knowledge of Thomson products and databases is a plus but not necessary
- General knowledge of financial industry and corporate structure (ie, do they understand that Oppenheimer is a subsidiary
of Alliance Bernstein, or that BofA and ML are the same)
v Education requirement:
- Bachelors Degree- Finance would be a plus but not required. Manager is also ok with an Associates
degree but candidate must be knowledgeable.
v Description
Interprets results using a variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation via
statistical analysis to complex data mining independently. Designs, develops, implements and maintains business solutions.
Works with main clients, project and business leaders to identify analytical requirements.
Provides tutorship to junior analysts. Requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty and 4-6 years of
experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks.
May lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.
